about Lee MacDougall

Lee was raised in Kirkland Lake, in Northern Ontario, Canada. He came south to attend the University of Toronto (BSc), and later studied acting at Ryerson University. He has worked as an actor, writer, and director in theatres across Canada. He makes his home in Stratford, Ontario, with his husband, Director/Choreographer Tim French.

Lee MacDougall’s play High Life has played across Canada, off-Broadway, and in Chicago, London, Tokyo, and Seoul. Learn more about other plays Lee has written.

As an actor, Lee is appearing in the acclaimed musical Come From Away. Lee has spent six seasons with the Stratford Festival, and he was in the Original Canadian cast of Urinetown at CanStage Co. See Lee's resume under Acting.

Come From Away returns! Next stop - the Ford's Theatre in Washington,DC. Sept 4 to October 16th. Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Directed by Chris Ashley, Choreographed by Kelly Devine, featuring Lee MacDougall and eleven other actors playing hundreds of roles. 

Come From Away will be the inaugural production at the newly renovated ROYAL ALEXANDRA THEATRE in Toronto, Canada, from November 15th, to Jan 8th. Tickets now available. Following that run, Lee will be heading to BROADWAY with the show, previews begin Feb. 18th, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, 236 West 45th St. NY. Opening night is March 12, 2017.  

Lee will be heading to GANDER, NFLD on October 30th, for two concerts of Come From Away at the Gander Community Centre. Tickets available now for the 3 and 8 pm shows. All proceeds going to local charities!

Lee's play High Life had a very successful run in Toronto - produced by the Soulpepper Theatre Co. in Feb/March of 2012.
